Close relationships in music are vital, and it’s quite common that you’ll end up where you want to go because of the people you know. So dust off those handy networking skills and go take your closest cohorts out for coffee! Keeping a musical relationship solid is hard work, especially when disagreements emerge — a good way to approach things is to prioritize empathy, logic, and patience over temporary rage or disappointment, which can easily lead to permanent damage.
You need to get comfortable in your vocal range, master techniques that you struggle with, and push the limits if you want to be exceptional (and yes, you want to be exceptional…“Exceptional” is the goal, if you were ever confused about that).

Whether you consider yourself an electronic producer, songwriter, amateur musician, or synthesist, if you plan to be creating musical work on your own, it’s vital to understand how to turn raw ideas into songs, organize and construct various song sections and integrate them together fluidly, and make your track listenable to a wide audience range.
From an artist’s perspective, countless hours go into creating music, perfecting a set, and bringing it to the stage — and that should speak for itself, right? It might be nice to fantasize about a world where musicians just show up to play and crowds miraculously appear, but that obviously isn’t how things work. Venues need bands to do much more than just show up and play great music, and all that starts with getting your foot in the door in the first place!
We look at Ligeti’s famous composition in order to decide how much, or how little, the use of music’s foundational parameters really matter in composing.
During the recording process, you’ll soon discover that not all takes are created equal. And it’s common for vocal and instrumental tracks to be spliced together later, during the editing process. This means that the more detailed notes you can jot down about how each take sounds, the better. You’ll rely on these notes later to edit and compile tracks.
Based on a narrative from the avant-garde writer Frank Wedekind, Lulu details the rise, fall, and violent death of a sexually adventurous dancer (murdered by Jack the Ripper, no less). It shocked readers by showing true love and romantic opportunism side by side, criticizing what Wedekind saw as the hypocritical bourgeois attitude towards sexuality at the time. The story has continued to resonate throughout the years, and the story’s place at the center of Metallica and Lou Reed’s controversial collaboration only speaks to its ability to both entice and polarize audiences.

In 1962, he composed “Poème Symphonique For 100 Metronomes,” in which metronomes tick at different rates and stop in different moments of the piece, creating a cloud of rhythms that dispels as the metronomes stop respectively.

Okay, when songs like this sound so chill and happy, it’s hard to notice they’re actually in minor at first. Could it maybe be the ninth chords? I mean, these chords are thick right from the get-go, so for type names I’m gonna have to go by the bass notes and piano chunks to make i iiº ♭III ♭VI v —, and then also a V after that iiº. But again, there are so many sevenths, ninths, and elevenths boo’d up here combined with the fizzy timbre of the synth that it’s hard to tell what exactly to call all these exotic ice cream flavors.
A great example of this technique comes from P!nk. At 2:03 in “Walk Me Home,” she sings the chorus an octave below, accompanied by nothing but an acoustic guitar, which makes the final chorus that returns later all the more impressive and memorable.
